Borussia Dortmund's Achievement Offers Inspiration, Blueprint for Liverpool - Bleacher Survey

If the full-time whistle sounded after a pulsating 94 minutes at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund confirmed, with an elegant 4-1 home conquer Real Madrid, that itas time for Germany to take top place in the latest reshuffling of power in European football. Dortmundas amazing success, needless to say, got on the trunk of another German effect, after Hamilton Academical Bayern Munich ruthlessly dispatched of new powerhouses Barcelona in a win at the Allianz Arena, rendering it a week for anyone involved in German football. A vindication, also, for the work that Germany has put in revamping its footballing construction, emphasizing childhood development and keeping a firm eye on fiscal prudence. And while Bayern are naturally the leading dogs of German footballa'their Tuesday story of Mario Goetzeas end-of-season move from Dortmund for a a48 million (ESPNFC) only served to highlight the differences even between the Bundesligaas two best standout teamsa'it is BVBas outstanding rise under Juergen Klopp that's drawn the dreamers. A desire predicated on childhood development, desirable targeting soccer helmed by a thrilling young instructor with a well-defined footballing philosophy. A dream that appears remarkably much like that of Liverpool Soccer Club over in the English Premier League. The first sign of likeness and parallel between those two fine historical institutions and their individual ways to basketball could be summed up in a Daily Mail report that related Juergen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers with a move to Liverpool in the aftermath of Kenny Dalglishas starting at the conclusion of last time. If the statement it self must certanly be taken seriously or not is irrelevant; in hindsight, it's a rumor that completely encapsulates what the current Liverpool property really wants to see at Anfield. Finally, they went for his name was made by Rodgers, who at Swansea City increasing an equally philosophy-backed soccer club into an established Premier League club. It has to be stated that in getting Juergen Klopp in 2008, Dortmund were taking a chance. Klopp had presided over relegation with his only previous membership, Mainz 05, and had failed to bring them back up to the Bundesliga at initially of asking, therefore he resigned. More often than maybe not, such experiences donat end in too efficiently, much less a possible fairytale Champions League final look. But such was Kloppas impacta'promoting young people such as Goetze and Nuri Sahin; making astute signings such as Robert Lewandowski and Shinji Kagawa (now at Manchester United ); instilling a liquid fighting design centered on high-tempo urgent and a higher defensive linea'that not only was his contract renewed only nine months into his new job, but he sent two consecutive Bundesliga games in his third and fourth months at the club. The parallels between Juergen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers, besides that Klopp seems much more emotive, are uncanny at first glance: Both are indisputable football philosophers, with their ideas of attacking football very much at the front of their managerial approaches; both are smart guy professionals, in a position to obtain the most readily useful out of their players; both are young and ambitious with designs on building dynasties for their groups. And this period, with Rodgers offering his or her own Academy graduates a fair chance in the senior teama'Andre Wisdom and Raheem Sterling were the primary recipients of this, developing themselves as first-choice people for a monthsa'and with a semblance of attacking, high-tempo and demanding baseball taking shape at Anfield, you can reduce Liverpool fans for looking at Dortmund as a plan and an inspiration. The groups themselves do not enjoy very nearly the financial muscle of a Bayern Munich or a Chelsea. They do not enjoy the natural money-making equipment of the club( s) above them. But Dortmundas sustained success over the past few seasons supplies a valuable route for Liverpool, which, if they find a way to take it successfully, might provide them a fabulous route back to the most effective. Undoubtedly John Henry and FSG have determined this very same strategy as a means for the Reds to maneuver forward. Make no mistake; Liverpool arenat not exactly the completed report that Dortmund are or that Rodgers has at times said theyare near to getting. (B/Ras Clark Whitney has written up an excellent analysis of Dortmundas techniques and player roles here.) To constantly maintain a productive high defensive line, like BVB have therefore successfully, the Liverpool backline has a glaring hole: the off-form Martin Skrtel and the retiring Jamie Carragher the entire line have been pulled by who deeper due to his not enough pace). The Reds midfield don't possess method and quality like Dortmund do in Ilkay Gundogan and Sven Bender, to supply their defenders with an excellent outlet for control storage, defensive address and playmaking. Lucasa form since returning from injury has been amazingly poor, while a significant hike is required by Joe Allen in both confidence and influence if he's to become a principal of this Liverpool area. Where Dortmund and Liverpool will be the most excitingly related is in attack. The existing BVB fighting equipment is mature, well-drilled and threatening, with creativity, work price, physicality and goalscoring abundant across the forward point. AsASterling matures and Daniel Sturridge develops into his position as single striker, with Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho in scary support, and the chance of further strengthening still, the hope is that Anfieldas edition can become a similarly fearsome mix. That Brendan Rodgers will find the right system to take Liverpool back and forward into the Premier League elite. And that, as Borussia Dortmund has shown therefore emphatically, this remarkable rise is manageable given the proper facets and choices. Basketball will only gain from a go back to success from an erstwhile European leader. Dortmund has pretty much succeeded. With this striking formula being converted into reality right before our eyes, Liverpoolas only task now's to drive on and keep feeling. Oakville eight-year-old signs with Stoke City academy. E.J. A contract was recently signed by james elementary school student Jeevan Chang-Sang, a member of the Robin van der Laan Soccer Academy, with England professional basketball club Stoke Cityas under-9 academy. Riziero Vertolli / Oakville Beaver When Jeevan Chang-Sang gets get a grip on of a soccer ball, all the best wanting to go away from him. The eight-year-old, who has been attending the RVDL (Robin van der Laan) Soccer Academy in Oakville because it first opened in 2009, is as dedicated a new player to the game as youall find. And if thereas a part of his sport he feels he needs to increase, you will be sure he wonat stop until he causes it to be an energy. aThere was a period in regards to a year and a half ago his father Andrew said where he really had the weakest chance in the academy,a. aWhen he was told on his progress report that he'd to work on his opportunity, he would practically go by himself in the yard and take 200 to 300 pictures a day. aI asked him 1 day, aWhy do you do this? What's it that you would like out of this?a He said to me two things: He wants to function as the most useful person in the world and he recognizes that includes a large amount of work. He also said he desires to help get Canada to the World Cup because in his entire life, theyave never gone to the World Cup.a Itas not only his ability, but his drive and desire to compete which allows Jeevan to achieve success in the Soccer Academy Alliance Canada (SAAC) against people frequently two or three years more than him. As it pertains to battling against older competition and he represents for the RVDL Academy Lions, itas not something heall actually shy far from. aThe players are stronger and more aggressive compared to the people I play with at my own, personal age,a said Chang-Sang, who moved with his household from Mississauga to Oakville five years ago. aItas difficult for me since weare both going for the ball in place of me standing there and waiting for them to stop the ball. You've to be way faster to get past them and more extreme to obtain the ball when itas a 50/50 battle.a Michael Scholz, director of operations for the RVDL Academy, says there's one word that always involves his mind when watching Chang-Sang on the message. aAmazement,a said Scholz, who co-founded the Academy with van der Laan four years ago. aHeas quite a small person and that reality really stands outAbecause heas actually playing two years up. Literally, nearly all of the players are larger than him but his determination, dedication and skill overcome that real difference and heas able to dazzle when heas on the field.a Dozens of features were the reason Chang-Sang was certainly one of three people recently selected by the RVDL Academy to go to England and try for European teams Stoke City FC, Bolton Wanderers FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC during an extended March Break. Chang-Sang and 13-year-olds Dylan Serpa and Nik Blaskovic were chosen within the academyas new Pathway to the Premiership motivation, which is designed to present people with a path to fundamentally play in England and European leagues, MLS or prepare them for Canadian or American scholarship opportunities. Last month, Chang-Sang attained the Stoke City Academy Dome for his initial workout with the clubas under-9 staff and immediately started showing the five instructors in attendance his vast collection. aItas good to observe advanced he was compared to the players at Stoke in regards to checking shoulders, being on your feet and seeking the ball,a said van der Laan, a Derby County Captain who helped lead his membership to promotion to the Premier League in 1995-96. aHe demonstrated his most useful qualities which are his rate, dribbling, taking participants one-on-one and making aem for dead essentially. He made an incredible impression.a After the period, the U9 academy mind instructor told Andrew they certainly were prepared to offer his daughter a deal with the team. aAs much since it was told us, for is the son or daughter a good thing you are able to hope goes and he is brought by them right back for a protracted tryout at yet another time,a Andrew said. aIt was surprise at first but (I also felt) serious pride.a Jeevan himself was surprised by how quick the present came. Because I didnat know they'd only come up for your requirements and say that ai was surprised. I wasnat nervous at all. I loved being there and it felt really good.a Van der Laan, however, had a confidence about the situation, knowing what his original student is capable of on the frequency. aI was comfortable Jeevan would make a large effect there and they would be around him to signal his contract,a van der Laan said. aThe purpose they presented the deal instantly is really because they didnat want other people to own him.a Inspite of the contract offer, Chang-Sang remained anxious to show each teamas instructors what he can do and get to both Bolton and Wolverhampton. aThe child is indeed decided, he desired to get a present out of each and every club,a van der Laan said. Throughout the journey, both teamsa facilities were visited by Chang-Sang. At Bolton, he went facing the clubas present academy participants in his generation and from the speed perception, tested as a 10-year-old Gold person. He received prolonged tryout provides with Bolton and Wolverhampton, but presently knew what his decision would definitely be. Once he returned to Oakville, Chang-Sang received his agreement from Stoke City, signed it and became the newest person in the clubas under-9 Academy team. He is the very first individual from the RVDL Academy to sign a professional contract with a European club, and van der Laan thinks Chang-Sang might be the youngest Canadian ever to ink this type of package. aIt makes me feel really proud of myself to be the first person in the RVDL academy to be closed with a professional team,a Chang-Sang said. aWhen I first knewAI was going to England, I was so happy I couldnat feel it.a Chang-Sang is currently in Grade 3 at E.J. David primary school and his SAAC time finishes in October. He and his family plan to go on to England the next month and heall begin teaching with his new team at the Clayton Wood Training Complex soon a short while later. Though heas energized for Chang-Sang, Scholz said the youngster will be overlooked at the RVDL Academy. aHeas always cheerful. Heas always eager to involved, to learn and to give maximum energy each time on the field. Heas really an inspiration to everyone.a Van der Laan mentioned Chang-Sang is excelling at the very first stage of his growth but notes there is still a long way for him in order to reach his full potential to go. aThe next process will be the decision making, when to pass, when to dribble and his passing and kicking strategy will be important,a he said. aThe next period then becomes the 12-to-14 (years old) variety and how intelligent he can be tactically. aEvery stage can become important to him and he wants to master every stage to become the gamer he would be liked by us to be.a Although he will skip his teammates at the RVDL Academy, Chang-Sang is ready for the next phase of his football career. aEveryoneas been expressing, aAre you excited?a and Iam like, aYeah, Iam really excited to go.a Itas a really big experience for me and Iam excited to go to England.a

FC Barcelona need Palau to roar - European Handball Champions League

Following a loss in their first leg match of the VELUX EHF Champions League Quarter-final, FC Barcelona Intersport are focusing on building their confidence for the second round next Saturday.

ehfCL.com spoke to Viran Morros de Argila ahead of the upcoming match to find out how the "Barça" players feel about their chances of making up the five-goal difference.

ehfCL.com: When you have been so successful in a season (only one loss before last Saturday), does it hurt to lose a second match, especially considering the circumstances?

Viran Morros: It is not just because it is the second defeat of the season that it hurts. It hurts because it may mean we won't reach the VELUX EHF FINAL4, which has been one of our main goals all season. It hurts because it was a very important match and because we have conceded too many goals to BM Atlético Madrid ahead of next Saturday.

Viran Morros: They simply played better: they were more intense than us, more accurate shooters and better defenders. Jota (José Javier Hombrados) was impressive. I think they were just better than us in many aspects of the game. Now we have a second match at home where we cannot concede this kind of defeat, and if we play as we have for the entire season, we will have the chance to make it through.

Viran Morros: The truth is during a match you cannot think about what's happening. You just have to keep on trying, again and again, with the goal of making things better. The problem is we just could not see what we were doing wrong, so our errors went uncorrected. During a game your heart is racing, and sometimes in that situation you need to stop for a second and think twice about what's happening. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the consequence was an awful match from our side.

ehfCL.com: You are now five goals behind Madrid and have only scored 20 goals altogether. How hard will it be to make up that difference?

Viran Morros: It will be very difficult as they have many expert players who have experience with these situations, such as Ivano (Balić), Jonas (Källman), Cañellas (Joan Cañellas Reixach) and Hombrados, who by the way played a fantastic match last weekend. In any case next Saturday we will have a second opportunity, but it will not be easy. Recovering the five goals Madrid leads us by will be a very complex task, but we will just have to commit ourselves from the first minute of the game.

ehfCL.com: After the match last Saturday, Albert (Rocas Comas) was talking about the "magic moments" that Palau Blaugrana often grants Barcelona's team. Xavi Pasqual Fuertes asked the fans to turn it into a "Greek court". Do you agree with that?

Viran Morros: Absolutely. We have discussed this within the team and agree that Palau must roar, must be our eighth player and must support us if the team is feeling down. I really hope it will be crowded – we need the support of our home crowd.

ehfCL.com: Madrid now have the upper hand. For the first time, Barcelona are in a very tough situation. Do you have any secrets planned to overcome this?

Viran Morros: Yes, there are many things we are working on, but I am not telling you (laughing). In all seriousness, everybody here is convinced we need to maintain a six-goal lead, as Atlético are capable of scoring three or four goals in quick succession given their expertise with fast breaks. I played there when it was BM Ciudad Real and our focus was on strong defence and fantastic fast breaks.

The main areas we need to focus on next Saturday are maintaining very strong defence, helping our keepers make more saves, not conceding second chances during their attack and minimising the number of turnovers, something we failed to do the other day.

Viran Morros: This is FC Barcelona. We are a great team and a greater club. This is one of the matches we love to play – one of the matches that can make us even bigger. We desperately need our fans to help us complete this job.

ehfCL.com: Do you have any comments about being among the nominees for the VELUX EHF Champions League All-star Team in the Best Defender category?

Viran Morros: I always feel very proud when I am nominated for any kind of award, as it means your work is recognised and somehow rewarded. The names of the other players in my category make the nomination even more significant for me. In any case I have always thought that in this category, the team as a whole should be considered. My personal work while defending always shines more thanks to the rest of the players, so I owe this to them.

GIFs: Lewandowski's Stunning Quad Against Real Madrid

On Wednesday at the Westfalenstadion, Robert Lewandowskias quad offered Borussia Dortmund a 4-1 conquer Real Madrid and one foot in next month's Champions League final. In doing so, the Poland international became the first person to score at least three goals against Madrid in the contemporary history of the competition. 8a Barely a minute after missing a caretaker following Diego Lopezas diving end on Marco Reus, Robert LewandowskiAgaveABorussia Dortmund the leada'his stabbed work finding the back of the net as he shook off Real Madrid opponent Pepe after receiving Mario Goetzeas corner from the left. 50a Dortmund were rattled because the first half whistle blew. Marco Reusa punishment shot had been waved away by the umpire, and just moments later a botched Mats Hummels back-pass had put Real Madrid on the board. But only 5 minutes after the restart, LewandowskiAput the hosts in front. Though he got enough on it to beat Diego Lopez, maintaining herself onside, he controlled Marco Reusa through-ball remarkably before scuffing his picture. 55a Lewandowski got his hat-trick in the minute on a goal very similar to his 2nd. This time around, nevertheless, it was Marcel Schmelzer moving the ball into the field, and after managing it along with his left foot and rotating onto his right, it was smashed by Lewandowski into the top left-hand corner of the goal. 67a Reus did find yourself earning a fee, all things considered. Xabi Alonso crashed in to the Germany global from behind in the 66th minute, and, by having an emphatic end from the area to complete his quad, Lewandowski offered Dortmund a strong 4-1 lead inside their Champions League semifinal, which will carry on to function as final report.

Nba Draft Lottery Standings 2013: Clubs Determined to Move Up so As

With the NBA's 2012-13 regular season almost over, it is time for you to take a look at the lottery teams in the draft this year. We have seen some teams climb up the draft board in the NBA's lottery throughout the years, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, who ended up with the No. 1 over all pick in the 2011 NBA draft, ultimately selecting position guard Kyrie Irving. Here's a look at some groups currently looking up at the top five selections who require some luck in the 2013 NBA draft lottery, filled with current lottery standings. Sacramento Kings (No. 6) Isaiah Thomas is not the point guard of the future for the Kings.Kevin C. Cox/Getty Photographs The King might still have a go at Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart or Michigan's Trey Burke here, but it isn't a certain thing. The Kings desperately desire a point guard with the circulation skills to make everyone around him better. Mixing some one like Smart or Burke with DeMarcus Cousins will be a good place for the Kings to start. Each point guard probability has shown the sort of leadership traits Sacramento desperately needs. Sacramento's current starting point guard, Isaiah Thomas, is calculating 2.23 helps per turnover, below the league average among point pads playing at the least 25 minutes per recreation (via Hoopdata.com). It's not surprising that the Kings rank 25th in the NBA in assists per contest. Washington Wizards (No. 7a'tie with Detroit Pistons) UNLV's Anthony Bennett would be a nice pick for Washington.Thearon N. Henderson/Getty Photographs The Wizards' dream possibility has to be UNLV's Anthony Bennett. They have a at electricity forward (Emeka Okafor isn't the long-term answer, Jan Vesely and Kevin Seraphin have a methods to go) and Bennett is merely the kind of electronic scorer who can form a powerful group with the backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal. There's also no guarantee that Bennett falls to No. 7 total. Bennett might help an ailing offense that ranks 28th in the NBA in points per game and 30th in bad productivity this season. Bennett averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds while capturing 53 percent from the floor and 38 percent from beyond the arc last period with the Rebels. Minnesota Timberwolves (No. 9) Ricky Rubio still requires a game-changer along side him at shooting guard.Scott Halleran/Getty Pictures The Timberwolves have already been looking for an active shooting guard for a while now. At No. 9 over all, they probably aren't going to locate a game-changer, particularly if Gary Harris decides to keep at Michigan State, nevertheless the hope is that they move into the very best five and have a shot at Kansas' Ben McLemore or Indiana's Victor Oladipo. McLemore and Oladipo will vary prospects. McLemore is more of a, while Oladipo's edge sport is merely beginning to come around to fit his defensive power. But either one of them would be a massive add for the Timberwolves. Luke Ridnour can be an underrated arrangement guard, but he's most certainly not a star. Minnesota needs a star along with position guard Ricky Rubio. Utah Jazz (No. 14) Jordan Carter-Williams gets the potential to point the Jazz in the proper direction.Kevin C. Cox/Getty Photographs The Jazz need certainly to find a legit point guard. While Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams truly isn't perfect at this time in his career (he is displayed bouts of inconsistency), he has the resources to be a reliable starting point guard in the NBA. Carter-Williams includes the ball-handling, court vision and penetrating ability to cause the Jazz in the proper way dancing. You increase his disruptive ability on security and you've yourself a person the Jazz would want to have. The only real issue is, Carter-Williams could possibly be gone by No. 14 general (possibly to the Dallas Mavericks), so that it will be good if Utah might move up a spot or two in the draft to grab their man.
