Chelsea FC urged to dump Fernando Torres this summer - Crunchsports.com

Chelsea need to cut their losses and sell Fernando Torres this summer, according to former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright.

Torres has largely struggled since joining Chelsea from Liverpool two years ago for a record £50million, and wasted a number of good chances during Thursday night's draw with Sparta Prague, including two in the opening 15 minutes.

The Spaniard, who was on the bench for Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Premier League, has scored just one goal in his last 15 games - that coming against Brentford in the FA Cup.

And with Blues boss Rafael Benitez failing to help his countryman return to form, Wright believes the west London club should finally write off the once-feared striker.

"For me, it's like that film Space Jam when someone has come along and nicked his talent! With some of the chances he's missing, you have to ask yourself what's gone wrong.

"It's sad to see one of the greats - who was a proper, proper forward - go through this. He's definitely unselfish with his play, but when you pay £50million for a striker you're not paying for him to set other people up.

"You want him in there scoring goals and he just isn't someone that frightens me any more like a Luis Suarez or Robin van Persie.
