Uche Nwofor produced an immediate response, but, collecting Barry Maguire's move to position home an equaliser just five full minutes later. Heap Lokhoff's side had to attend before the 72nd minute to snare the winner, which arrived via Dutch midfielder Bryan Linssen following still another Maguire assist. Venlo stay static in the relegation zone in 17th place on 19 points but have bridged the gap to the security of 15th place, currently occupied by Roda JC, to two points. Having observed their three-match winning streak clicked, NEC remain seventh, 10 points shy of last spot and a future Europa League spot.
