The Brazilian stopper has spent the second half of the current season out on loan at German side Hoffenheim but it is thought unlikely that the Bundesliga side will look to make the deal permanent.
While that is arguably true, Tottenham fans were not expecting the erratic performances in the air that accompanied his razor sharp reflexes.
Spurs persevered with Gomes for a number of seasons but the club eventually ran out of patience with the Brazilian as he continually cost his side a number of valuable points in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper has since found himself well down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and now finds himself behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel.
PSV reportedly came in for the player two years ago but were put off by the £8 million asking price. With Gomes' contract set to expire in 2014, it is thought that Tottenham are now likely to be looking for much less.
