There was just one Championship match on Friday evening and that one match had the potential to put a huge wrench in Bolton's promotion plans. Gianfranco Zola's Watford team traveled to the King Power Stadium to take on Nigel Pearson's Leicester City in a top (ish) of the table clash. At the start of the day, the Hornets sat four points back of second-place Hull City. A win would have thrown them right back into the automatic promotion mix.
The match was largely end-to-end with both sides carving out chances for much of the first half. Watford would go ahead thanks to Troy Deeney scoring his 19th goal of the season from just six yards out. That goal was not the story of the match as on-loan Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah scored one that fans of the sport will likely remember for years to come. His goal was the definition of a screamer thanks to its pace, perfect placement, and the fact that it left everyone shell-shocked.
The goal would prove to be the eventual match-winner as the Hornets walked out 2-1 winners. The Foxes would pull one back just after the hour mark thanks to Harry Kane but it proved too little too late. The win pulls Watford within a point of Hull City (at the time of writing) but as Bolton fans, we're not at all bothered about that.
Leicester City's loss leaves them in seventh place with Bolton a point ahead in sixth and two games to play (again, at the time of writing) to Leicester's one. If Nottingham Forest lose to Millwall, Bolton can guarantee a play-off place with just three points from their final two matches.
