Champions League Betting Special: Why backing Borussia Dortmund now offers ... - Yahoo! Singapore News

What makes the quarter-finals of this season's Champions League fascinating is that there are five sides in the last eight, who will believe they have a good chance of winning the title. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are five of the biggest clubs in the world and between them have 20 Champions League titles.

That Bayern and Juve have been drawn against each other in the quarters means we should eliminate them from consideration in the outright market, where the Germans are offered at 9/2 (5.50) and the Serie A champions at 14/1 (15.00).

After their historic comeback against Milan in the last round, Barcelona are the clear favourites at 6/4 (2.25) yet that price is not appealing given not only the quality of other sides left in the tournament, but also bearing in mind the fact that Barca have been beaten by Real Madrid comfortably in recent meetings.

If a Clasico were to be thrown up in the semi-final or final, then the price of 6/4 (2.25) for Barca would start to look far too small, while the odds of 5/2 (3.50) for Madrid would become even more attractive given their recent superiority over the Catalans.

The Bundesliga champions are unbeaten in this season's competition and have shown just how fiercely competitive they are in their stunning performances against Real Madrid and Manchester City in the group stages.

Having been drawn against arguably the weakest side in the last eight in Malaga, there is every chance that Dortmund will make the last four and then they will be confident against any side that remains.

The price of 7/1 (8.00) looks well worthy of consideration, and should Dortmund make the final, punters who have been bold at this stage could lay the bet off, guaranteeing profit regardless who lifts the trophy at Wembley.

Finally, new Coral customers who use their free £50 bet to back Borussia Dortmund to win at 7/1 (8.00) would see an extremely healthy, zero risk, return of£350 if the Germans triumph in May.
