What will Happen When the AMERICAN FOOTBAL Pushes Back Draft, Varies League Calendar?

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted the subsequent, which, in essence, ended up being the resurfacing of gossips that arose in tardy February:

Now, the only people who know the NFL's specific intentions regarding something different in schedule are high-ranking FOOTBALL and NFLPA officials.

While no new developments have been completely reported about that idea as one, it may shed some light of what the NFL has planned.

Pushing the draft back a couple of weeks would be pretty inconsequential, really. But if it precipitates more widespread change with the league calendar, it may be significant.

If the category year begins before the combine, it's safe to believe the always chaotic free-agency span would take place prior to the annual Under Armour Olympics. That might be a major alteration, as all 32 franchises would need to tweak their entire team-building strategy and scouting timeline most of the time.

With the draft within May, it would likely provide more hours for prospects to be scrutinized and hyped—if that's even possible—but it might also give draft hopefuls and veterans more of their time to heal from problems.

Adjusting to a shortened period to make for the regular season could be met with a lot of initial criticism by coaches and players, but some sort of two-week difference isn't amazing. Having said that, OTAs would likely start later, probably few months in June, which certainly would cut into rookies studying their respective playbooks.

Likely, the NFL would see a growth in profits if a rumored "one-event-per-month" strategy relates to fruition. And for a good league that America simply cannot get enough of, one along with the leverage, making money is a top priority.
